Theresa’s TNT (Tip ‘N Tool): Intention or Attachment?   Leave a comment

Preamble

I’ve been reading a wonderful book, entitled  Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself, by Dr. Joe Dispensa, a chiropractor who received post graduate training in neurology, neuroscince, brain function and cellular biology.

I first met Dr. Joe, as he’s affectionately known, in Munich, Germany, while attenting a conference on Reconnective Healing. Dr. Joe was one of the presenters. His quote about surrender popped out at me while riding the subway this morning. As always, it was such a great reminder! You can read it in the TNT below.

Theresa’s TNT (Tip ‘N Tool) Intention or Attachment?

“The universial intelligence that animates the existence of all things will both surprise and delight you.”

– Dr. Joe Dispensa

We are all familiar with setting intentions – the vision of what we wish our lives to be.

While studying to be a Practitioner at the Center of Spiritual Living, I learned the power of Affirmative Prayer and the process of visioning: We name what we want, we embody it on a feeling level, and release it. When we are in alignment with what we want, on a thinking and feeling level, this three-step process can work miracles in our lives. I’ve seen the power of affirmative prayer in my life, and in the lives of my clients and friends.

If you haven’t experienced the art of deliberate creation, you may not be on a vibrational level equipment to what you want and/or may be attached to the outcome of how you want the universe’s response to appear.  The later is a dream killer.

In his book, Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself, Dr. Joe Dispensa has this to say:

“You can’t both surrender and try to control the outcome. Surrender requires that you give up what you think you know from your limited mind, especially your belief about how this problem in your life should be taken care of.  To truly surrender is to let go of the ego’s control; trust in an outcome that you haven’t thought of yet; and allow this all-knowing, loving intelligence to take over and provide the best solution for you. You  must come to the understanding that this invisible power is real, fully conscious of you, and can completely take care of any aspect of the personality. When you do, it will organize your life in a way that is just right for you.”

The last sentence is a tenet of both Reconnective Healing and Affirmative Prayer. In Reconnective Healing, we show up, ready and willing to observe our experience and let the Universe design the healing that’s right for us; in Affirmative Prayer, we declare what we want, and let go of the how. It’s all a part of letting go and surrendering.

The next time you envision, or pray for something you want, – a physical healing, a relationship, or financial abundance, imagine yourself opening to the Universe responding in a way that’s different than you think.

With love, Theresa

Wednesday’s TNT (Tip ‘N Tool): Going Deeper   Leave a comment

Dear Friends,

This week’s TNT provides a tool to help you delve deeper into clarifying and manifesting your heart’s desires.

Wednesday’s TNT (Tip ‘N Tool): Going Deeper

One of the greatest lessons I received while training as a Science of Mind Practitioner at the Center for Spiritual Living in Seattle was learning to delve more deeply into what it was I wanted.

I learned that on the surface, we may say we want a relationship, a car, a new career, more friends, but underneath the “thing” we want is often something deeper. For instance, underneath a relationship may be a desire for love, companionship or connection. Underneath the desire for a car, may be a wish for greater freedom and flexibility. A new career, may grant greater expression of our gifts, talents and abilities. The “thing” we want may seem to satisfy our needs, but underneath each of these examples are qualities that, when experienced, would enrich and bless our lives.

As a Science of Mind Practitioner, I have been trained in the use of Spiritual Mind Treatment, also known as affirmative prayer, to support myself, and my clients, in bringing about the manifestation of a stated desire.  Treating (affirming or praying) for what lies beneath the surface opens, rather than limits, the possibilities for satisfying our desires in a way that is unique to the person who is treating (affirming or praying) or being treated (prayed) for. The Universe knows far better than we how to satisfy our needs. The key is being open to receive something different than what we expect the  answer or solution to be. The same is true with any kind of healing. If we’re looking for something in particular, and have blinders on, we may miss the guidance or blessing.

The next time you have a need or desire, I invite you to delve deeper, and discover what lies beneath the surface. You may find the results of your prayers and intentions open a new field of possibilities that you’ve never even dreamed of.

If you would like to learn more about Spiritual Mind Treatment or schedule an appointment for a Treatment, please contact me at Theresa@reconnecting2you.com.

With love,

Theresa

Fulfilling Your Personal Legend   Leave a comment

Dear Friends,

I was recently invited to submit an article for Mind Mastery, a forum in the U.K. facilitated by a fellow coach and Gestalt Therapist, whose mission is to promote human development. It was fun to write – one of those pieces that seemed to write itself. I thought you might enjoy it! Here’s a taste, followed by the link:

Fulfilling Your Personal Legend

Life holds many possibilities. When we allow our dreams to take root, and nourish them with our actions, we expand into new horizons and create our personal destinies.

“Our destiny is not mapped out for us by some exterior power; we map it out for ourselves. What we think and do in the present determines what shall happen in the future.” – Christian D. Larson

Wednesday’s TNT (Tip ‘N Tool) Want vs. Need – A Matter of Frequencies   Leave a comment

Preamble

Tired of struggling? Would you like to experience greater joy or abundance in your life? This weeks TNT will show you how to increase your vibrational frequency, so you can attract more of what you want.

Wednesday’s TNT (Tip ‘N Tool): Want vs. Need – A Matter of Frequencies

“Want can start people on the road to achievement. Desire can become a springboard to higher levels of consciousness.” – David Hawkins, M.D., Ph.D.

Want and need elicit different vibrational frequencies.

Want delivers a message to the Universe based on openness and desire. It paints a picture and creates a vibration of allowing, to which the Universe can (and will) respond.

Need is based on a belief (or a feeling) that something is lacking. It shuts our vibrational circuitry down and makes it difficult for the Universe to respond, as our vibrational frequency is out of alignment with who we are and what we want.

Don’t take my word for it. Try it. The difference is palpable.

Close your eyes and think of something you want or think you need. Then, say the following two sentences aloud, and see how you feel after each:

Step 1:

“I want__________ (fill in the blank).” (E.g. a baby, a new job, good health, a relationship, etc.)

Notice how it feels in your body.

Step 2:

Next, take a breath and repeat the sentence, using the same object, only this time replace the word “want” with the word “need.”

“I need__________(fill in the blank). (E.g. a baby, a new job, good health, a relationship, etc.)

Notice how it feels when you say it.

Step 3:

Lastly, write one or two words to describe the feeling(s) you experienced after each sentence. Which do you prefer?

Try replacing the word “need” with “want’ for the next week and see what happens.

As always, I would love to hear your comments. Just click on the “Leave a Comment” tab next to the blog title to comment.

Embracing the Light, Plus Live Coaching Event   Leave a comment

 Preamble

This week’s blog continues with the theme of change – those we wish to make, and those aspects of our lives that remind us that there are places within us in need of discovery and growth. Like buds that push through the ground in spring, we have an opportunity to emerge from the darkness of winter, embrace the Light and dream again.

If would like a little daily inspiration, visit my Facebook page, where you’ll find tips and tools, inspirational messages, educational articles, and more. (Tip: Click “Like” at the top of the page to receive the posts.) http://goo.gl/wiQofc

And, if you live in New York, or will be visiting the area, stop by The Red Pipe Cafe, located in Forest Hills, on Saturday, May 23rd for my upcoming Coffee and Coaching Event.  You can find more information about the event in the Announcements section at the end of the blog.

EMBRACING THE LIGHT

“You may have suffered a setback, but don’t sit around in self-pity. Tell your heart to beat again. Tell your heart to love again…Tell your heart to forgive again. Maybe a dream didn’t work out, but nothing will change if you just expect more of the same. Tell your heart to dream again.”               –  Joel Osteen

Making big changes (or even little ones!) can be daunting! Fear of the unknown is a biggie that affects all of us in varying degrees, and at different points in our lives. The question is: are you willing to stay stuck and let it stop you or are you ready to take steps to break free?

We move at our own pace. Some of us are turtles. We move slowly, wear protective shells and retreat when we sense danger or need time to evaluate. Others of us are like gazelles that spring forward and move at lightening speeds. The good news is  how quickly we move doesn’t matter. It’s taking consistent steps toward the lives we desire that make for lasting change.

Fear of uncertainty can tempt me to stop dead in my tracks and cause my imagination to run rampant, creating all kinds of commotion no man (or woman!) in his right mind would want to embark on, let alone make him want to leap into the void!

“What if’s…” are two little words that are enough to halt the cosmos and are huge dream stoppers, when we use them against, rather than for ourselves. Like a child that wakes in the night from a scary dream afraid of monsters, and whose parent turns on the light, the fear disappears when we wake up and discover there’s nothing there but the filters of our imaginations.

What helps each of us turn on the Light is unique to who we are and what fits us best in the moment. For me, it may be reading something inspirational, prayer, a walk in nature, meditation, reciting an affirmation or a call to a support person or friend. But the most helpful of all is surrender – letting go of fears and doubts, confusion and speculation, so I can reconnect to who I am and hear the voice of my intuition. Whatever the tools, we use them to remind us of who we are and that life is ours for the asking.

There may be times we retreat, or feel like we’re moving in reverse, but the opposite is true. We never stop growing or go back in time – like the bulbs that lie dormant in winter and bloom in spring, we are destined to evolve and flourish.

If you would like a tool to help you let go, you may find the following exercise helpful. Use it as written or modify it to fit your personal style. However you use it, may it help you to prosper and grow as you embrace the Light within you.

An Exercise in Letting Go: Releasing Your Fears to the Light

The Universal Light Box

  1. You will need a covered container or box for the exercise; small pieces of paper that can easily fit in the box, or index cards cut in quarters; and a pen. I suggest using a container or box that you find beautiful and pleasing to look at. If desired, you can let your creative juices flow and decorate it.
  2. Next, write each of your fears or concerns on separate pieces of paper, and include the date. Place them in your Light Box. Keep it short. A sentence works perfectly.
  3. You can continue to add concerns or fears to your Light Box as often as needed.
  4. As you put each concern into your Light Box, imagine releasing it to the care of the Universe. You might like to say a few words or a special prayer to help you let go, such as “I now release all of my cares and concerns to the Light,” although it’s not necessary.
  5. Then take a breath, let go and trust that the Universe is working in your favor.
  6. Empty your Light Box every month or so. Remove the concerns that you have released or that have been resolved and return the ones you are still concerned about to your Light Box and continue with the exercise.

As always, I would love to hear your comments!

With love,

Theresa

What’s in Your Cupboard?   Leave a comment

What-is has no bearing on what is coming unless you are continually regurgitating the story of what is. By thinking and speaking more of how you really want your life to be, you allow what you are currently living to be the jumping-off place for so much more. But if you speak predominantly of what-is, then you still jump off —but you jump off into more of the same. – Abraham

I’ve been thinking a lot about acceptance today, and how what we want is often thwarted by that which we think is possible (or not) and/or the image we hold of ourselves.

I had a psychic reading a few months ago, (if you who don’t believe in such things, keep reading, there may be something here for you) and struggled to understand the meaning of two sentences that were significant, but that the psychic had forgotten to explain, and that I forgot to ask about until long after the reading was over. Although I spent a lot of time contemplating the words the sentences contained, their meaning escaped me. Until I attended an event with Tony LeRoy (a psychic I saw on the Dr. Oz Show) a couple of weeks ago.

The  sentences?  “You are eating day old bread. They want you to have fresh bread.”

Now, you may be savvier than I am, and have already interpreted the meaning. But it took sharing the sentence at Tony’s event, and sitting next to a woman I didn’t know, to put it into context. The meaning she deciphered? That perhaps the “day old bread” represented beliefs and attitudes that no longer served me, and the “fresh bread,” symbolizesd new beliefs and attitudes that allowed my greater good to flow to me.

Her interpretation made perfect sense.

For me, the old bread contained ingredients that had long gone stale:  lingering thoughts that I am not enough, don’t have enough, etc. – typical of conditioned beliefs we have all held true at one time or another.

Day old bread can include our beliefs about money, relationships, the economy, work, health, and anything else that limits us. Although we may clean the cupboards, it takes consistent effort and conscious awareness to keep the dust away. An essential ingredient, should you desire to create a few freshly baked loaves, is to use the word “allow” as leavening.  And remember, you’re always free to change the recipe.

Here’s one you can use as a starter:

Today, I allow the blessings of the Universe to support me. I say yes to new ideas, new opportunities, and to the wealth of love, joy, health, and abundance that express in, as and through me. I now allow the Universe to surprise and delight me! And for this good, I do give thanks.
